Tenuta Lagala

Owners went above and beyond to turn this beautiful winery into the setting for my dream wedding. Wonderful food, wine, evoo and staff. We love Tenuta Lagala! Highly recommend!

Very bad experience – be careful when booking! We had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. The owner was unprofessional. Back in March, I contacted the owner and paid in advance for our stay in August. Just a short time before our arrival, the owner wrote to me saying they had to cancel our room because they decided to rent the hotel to a wedding party instead. When booking, I was never warned that this could happen – otherwise, I would have reconsidered. On top of that, they held our money for almost five months. This is unacceptable. We were very disappointed and I would advise others to be cautious when booking this place.

An unforgettable stay, and perfect place to escape to for a few days in the Southern Italian countryside. The owners, Arnaldo and Angelica, are very kind, genuine and informative. We enjoyed the days mostly alone by the pool, and had an afternoon in Pietrapertosa/Castelmezzana. Evenings consisted of luxurious dinners with extraordinary wines. We loved the Angelica sparkling rosé, brought 3 with us home, and enjoyed the red wine Aquila del Vulture. Also brought a bottle of olive oil - so good! In the morning the breakfast included scrambled eggs, croissant, homemade cake, yogurt, coffee, Aglianico grape juice, and seasonal fruit. The rooms were a good size, cool, clean, and quiet. Hoping to return!

We had wonderful off season stay at Tenuta Lagala in early March. We spent 4 nights in the ”cherry” room. Five stars for everything!!! Excellent service and hospitability, great wines, food and lovely wineyard scenery. Highly recommend this place for everybody. You need a car to reach Tenuta Lagala. Restaurant deserves extra stars, food is excuisite, really delicious. Grazie!

Tenuta Lagala is perfectly situated just outside the marvellous little town of Venosa (literally a 2 minute drive) and offers a relaxing, elegant stay set amongst the beautiful nature of Basilicata - a region that deserves more and more of everyone’s attention! Our room was very cute and comfortable and we ate so, so well both for lunch and at breakfast. Of course what really makes this place so special is the incredible artisanal wine production they do. From their beautiful vines they produce a series of quite simply world class wines that should be tasted and discovered by all wine lovers! What tops it all off is that the owners are very kind, genuine and informative and they have a created the perfect place to escape to for a few days in the Southern Italian countryside. We can’t wait to return!
