I knew absolutely nothing about Potenza, but I was pleasantly surprised by this little town nestled in the Italian highlands. I went to this "caffè risorante" because I was starving, and I left completely satisfied. It's a small café offering both savory and sweet treats—all very traditional. You'll find mini pizzas, savory filled doughnuts, and very dry, rich sweet biscuits. If you have a sweet tooth, they also have croissants with chocolate sauce and vanilla (I don't know how to say that in English). The atmosphere is very family-friendly and welcoming, with the sounds of Italians sipping their coffee and an NRJ 2014 playlist playing in the background. The waiters and bartenders (there are two of them) do their jobs well. One of them, though, refuses to lower his plucked eyebrow; the way he looks at you is a bit unsettling. Otherwise, the restrooms are pleasant, equipped with the bare minimum and in keeping with the café's decor. This café is one of the few in the world that offers frozen desserts (like frozen tiramisu), and it's delicious. If you arrive home from a 2.5-hour bus ride at lunchtime and are starving, I highly recommend going to this café. It's just a 200-meter climb, but once you reach the top, you'll be glad you did.
